Educational Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Describe epidemiology of overactive bladder (OAB) and differentiate the prevalence of the disorder as compared with the number of people actually treated
- Recognize OAB as an important medical condition that requires effective treatment, and as a condition that can have a significant impact on patient quality of life in both males and females
- Screen for and diagnose OAB accurately in both male and female patients
- Demonstrate an ability to integrate the various treatments available (i.e., behavioral, pharmacologic) into their clinical practice
- Identify newer treatment options that minimize side effects that affect patient adherence to prescribed medications, a factor that could positively impact the population affected by OAB
